The Annual New Years Powwow in Denver has an amazing story. First started in the early 70's headed by the Denver March Powwow committee members. The new year's powwow has endured. After a passing of the torch to other committees, the Powwow stopped in the mid 2000's. In 2010 1st Tribal Consulting started a New Years Eve round dance at Four Winds council located at 5th and Bannock in the heart of Denver. This success had gained momentum, and the Denver Indian community had wanted a full powwow.
The very next year 1st Tribal had established the Mile High New Years Eve Celebration Powwow. In 2014 1st Tribal then partnered with Mile High UNITY (United Native Intertribal Youth). Donating all proceeds to the youth group. This partnership had endured for a wonderful four years until the Mile High UNITY then closed its charter and all the students graduated. The Powwow then endured through the Covid-19 pandemic and now is being run by Denver Public Schools students. This opportunity for students to lead this powwow fit with the community relations and project-based learning system we at 1st Tribal Consulting promote.
